The two shells presented to the University boat club by W. C. Baylies '84 and S. Shillito '79 were injured in shipment form England on the steamship Georgian. During a storm one of the life boats broke loose and fell upon the box containing the shells, breaking off four feet of the stern of the eight-oar and crushing the bow of the four-oar. It cannot be ascertained whether there is any further damage until an examination is made by the insurance officers.
