The University chess team will meet the team of the University of Pennsylvania in a match at the rooms of the Harvard Chess Club in Grays 19, at 1 o'clock today. This is the first time that the two universities have met in chess, and as two of the University team have had experience in previous intercollegiate matches and one of Pennsylvania's men is of international as well as intercollegiate reputation, the match should prove a close one. It is not, however, connected with the intercollegiate tournament, which was held during the Christmas vacation and in which the University team won third place.
Harvard will play in the following order: A. G. Johnson '11, C. S. Hadley 2L., R. B. Cooke 1G., H. H. Heath '12, and T. Thorwaldson 3G.
Pennsylvania's team will be picked from the following men: Barskey, Benjamin, Beurmeyer, Sze, Teitelbaum, Weimar, and Whitaker.
The match will be open to the public.
