LAW SCHOOL VS. SUBSTITUTES

Hard 25-minute Scrimmage Resulted in Victory for Former Team.

The chief feature of University football practice yesterday afternoon was a 25-minute scrimmage between the substitutes and a team of Law School men, in which the Law School scored five points to the substitutes' two. Three regulars, Fisher, Keays, and Leslie, and Howard, who is again in the game after a long absence on account of an injured knee, played on the substitutes team. The Law School men played much more aggressive football than the substitutes although they slowed down perceptibly in the last few minutes. Once the Law School held for downs when a pretty forward pass from Freedley to Howard had placed the ball on the 5-yard line.

The scrimmage opened with the ball in the Law School's possession on the substitutes' 35-yard line, and shortly after came the first score. Several line plays had failed, when Page, from a fake kick formation, made a nice forward pass to Williams. The latter, had a clear field, and easily carried the ball across for touchdown. No goal was kicked. This time the ball was given to the Law School on its own 35-yard line. An exchange of kicks gained twenty yards for the substitutes, and on the next play Minot's punt struck one of his own men, rolling back of the goal line. Page fell on it for a safety. These were the only scores made.

Before and after the scrimmage light signal practice was held by the University team in which the line-up was as usual.

The substitute and Law School teams lined up as follows: SUBSTITUTES.  LAW SCHOOL. Howard, l.e.  r.e., MacVeagh Jenckes, l.t.  r.t., L.
