HARD PRACTICE FOR 1915

In Forty-minute Scrimmage First Team Had Little Difficulty in Scoring on Second.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Freshman football squad was given strenuous work yesterday afternoon. A drill in catching punts was given to the backs, and charging practice for the linemen was held. The first team then went through a long dummy scrimmage with the substitutes in which no tackling was allowed. Afterwards the first team lined up against the second for a forty-minute scrimmage. For the first ten minutes the play was decidedly listless but became more lively as practice went on, and after about fifteen minutes' play the first team worked the ball down to the second's two-yard line. The next play resulted in a touchdown, Handy carrying the ball. The second team was then given the ball on the 20-yard line and soon punted; Briskly returned the punt on the next play and the first team held their opponents for downs. The ball was again worked to the second team's two-yard line and Cottrell scored on an old style line plunge. The final score for the first was made by Handy after Packard had made a fine run of 60 yards.
