Long Scrimmage for Freshmen

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Freshman football team was put through the hardest practice of the season yesterday afternoon. After a drill in tackling the dummy the backs were given practice in kicking and catching punts, while the linemen practiced blocking and breaking through.

After this the first team and substitutes were lined up against each other in a dummy scrimmage, merely walking through the plays. The coaches paid particular attention to remedying the faults noticeable in yesterday's scrimmage with Cambridge Latin School. Each man received individual coaching in the playing of his position. This was followed by a snappy signal drill after which the first team lined up against the second for a long scrimmage. The offensive work of the first team was fair. Bradlee scored first after intercepting a forward pass. The first team was then given the ball on the second's 25-yard line. After a few plays Brickley scored from the 10-yard line on a plunge through guard. A third touchdown was made by deWindt a few minutes later. The defence of the second team was good and the first was held for downs several times. At no time in the scrimmage was the first team's goal in danger.
