Stiff Practice for Freshman Team

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Freshman football team was given rather hard practice yesterday afternoon. After a short blackboard talk for the first team, the whole squad was drilled with the tackling dummies; a long dummy practice between the first team and the substitutes was followed by signal practice in which the forward pass was often used. The first and second teams then lined up for a 25-minute scrimmage. The second team was given the ball in the centre of the field, and after a few minutes of hard play the first team took the offensive and worked down the field for a touchdown. Withington kicked the goal. Play was again started from mid-field, and after consistent gains Cottrell made a touchdown for the first team. A few minutes later the first team scored again making the final score 16-0.
