Yale Easily Defeated Holy Cross

The Yale University football team defeated Holy Cross Saturday by a score of 26 to 0. The game was not marked by brilliant playing on either side, Captain Howe, of Yale, furnishing most of the spectacular runs. The Holy Cross defence was at most times too much for the Yale attack and prevented any long end runs.

Yale's attack was confined principally to single plays from regular and wing shift formations, the forward pass being used but once. Holy Cross executed one excellent pass from Whalen to Metivier, who gained about 35 yards on the play. This placed the ball in Holy Cross's posession on Yale's 25-yard line, which was the nearest the Worcester team came to a score.

The first and third periods of the game were dubious for Yale, for during these her team was unable to make any headway against the strong defence of its opponents. In the second period Yale secured two touchdowns and a safety for a total of 14 points. Two touchdowns in the fourth completed the scoring.

Captain Howe and Philbin were the surest men on the Eli team to gain ground. Holy Cross was greatly handicapped by the poor passing of her centre, which allowed the score to pile up higher than it otherwise would have.
