The fifth annual meeting of the Intercollegiate Athletic Association of the United States was held at the Hotel Astor, New York, on Thursday, December 29.

The principal discussion of the meeting was on the new football rules. The question "Are the football rules satisfactory in their present form, and, if not what improvements would you suggest?" was sent out to the athletic authorities of 75 colleges. Fifty answered in favor of retaining the rules in unmodified form. The others were in favor of slight changes, and only one college thought that football should be abolished.

The following committee on track and field events was appointed: Mr. A. L. Stagg, University of Chicago: Professor F. W. Marvel, Brown University; Dr. N. A. Lambeth, University of Virginia.

Seven new members were admitted to the association, which will henceforth be known as the National Collegiate. Athletic Association.
