Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Harvard University Since 1905.

Henry Augustus Torrey Ph.D.'96 assistant professor of chemistry, died very suddenly of heart failure at his Cambridge home yesterday afternoon. The funeral arrangements have not yet been made.

Professor Torrey was born on August 29, 1871 at Burlington, Vermont. He was educated at the University of Vermont, being graduated in 1893. Three years later he received his Ph.D. degree in chemistry from Harvard, and the following year from the University of Vermont. He was an instructor and assistant professor of chemistry at the University of Vermont. In 1905 he was appointed by the Harvard Corporation assistant professor of chemistry, which position he held until his death.
