In the few days before the opening of the second half-year many men will have occasion to select new courses from the many that are about to begin. To these men, and especially to Seniors and others who are finishing their undergraduate course, we would suggest as a factor in all choices the personality and reputation of the instructors. Many men have gone through Harvard, adhering to a rigid schedule of courses or to a crooked line of least resistance determined by snap courses, and have failed altogether to avail themselves of the presence here of some of the most distinguished scholars and teachers of the time. No education can be said to be fully completed here unless it shows the influence of some of these men in whom Harvard is unique.
