Associate Professor F. C. de Sumichrast, of the French department, has been appointed associate professor of French, emeritus, the appointment to date from September 1, 1911. This action followed his resignation as associate professor.
Mr. de Sumichrast was professor of modern languages in King's College, Nova Scotia from 1870 to 1872. He also held the position of registrar at the University of Halifax from 1880 to 1885. Since 1899 he has been associate professor of French in the University.
At a meeting of the Board of Overseers on Wednesday Professor A. C. Coolidge '87 was made director of the University library. Professor Coolidge received the degree of Ph.D. from the University of Freiburg in 1892. Since that time he has been a member of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. In the year 1906-07 he served as lecturer at the University of Paris.
