About 70 candidates for the 1914 crew reported for the first day of fall practice yesterday afternoon. This is a remarkably good showing, far better than last year, when fall rowing for the Freshman crew was started for the first time. Two crews were sent out on the river, while the rest of the squad rowed on the machines. Coach Stephenson was in charge.
The first crews paddled a short distance up-stream in the following order:
First crew--Stroke, Chanler; 7, Morgan; 6, Blanchard; 5, Converse; 4, Curtis; 3, Hilliard; 2, Trumbull; bow, Henry; cox., Roosevelt.
Second crew--Stroke, Edwards; 7, Adsit; 6, Harrower; 5, Reynolds; 4, Taylor; 3, Metcalf; 2, Storms; bow, Hubbard; cox., Shotter.
Morning practice for those who can come down will begin today. Coach Wray will be in charge.
