Battery A defeated the First Corps of Cadets by the score of 6 to 0 in the Stadium yesterday morning. Both teams showed the effects of poor condition, and lack of practice. The game was marred by the unsportsmanlike aggressiveness of several of the individuals on each side during the final period.
The Battery had by far the heavier and faster team, and it was only due to poor generalship that the score was not larger. The play was always in the Cadets' territory and the Battery goal-line was never in danger. The Battery scored its touchdown on a forward pass. Wadsworth sent the ball to Dana, who, aided by good interference, ran 17 yards to the goal-line. Dana kicked the goal, although the angle was an extremely difficult one.
Beebe and Gutterson played good defensive games for the Cadets, while Dana, Hooper and Hardwick played well for the Battery. Score--Battery A, 6; First Corps Cadets, 0 Touchdown--Dana. Goal from touchdown--Dana. Umpire--Gilman, Dartmouth. Referee -- Philbin, Yale. Field-judge--Hoar, Harvard. Head-lines-man--Wood. B. A. A. Time--Four 10-minute periods.
