The Seniors defeated the Juniors in the second game of the class football series yesterday, by the score of 6 to 0. The offense of both teams was stronger than the defence, but the only score of the game was the result of a long run following a recovered kick. Floyd and Browne played well for their respective teams. Frequent fumbling was the most obvious result of insufficient practice.
The Seniors received the kick-off on their own 25-yard line, and by straight rushing carried the ball to the middle of the field, only to lose in on a fumble. Before the period closed, however, the Juniors were able to make one or two substantial gains. They lost the ball on a fumble at the beginning of the second period, and an indecisive punting duel followed, in which the Seniors had a slight advantage.
In the second half the defence of both sides stiffened materially, and except for a few gains made by the Juniors on forward passes, neither side was able to advance the ball. The Seniors scored the only touchdown in the final period. With the ball in the middle of the field, the Juniors partially blocked a kick, and Murdoch, recovering the ball on the 30-yard line, ran the remaining distance for a touchdown. Lewis kicked the goal. When play was resumed, the Juniors received the kick-off, but being unable to gain consistently, were forced to kick. The Seniors fumbled the punt, and Stebbins fell on the ball. The Juniors then advanced by straight rushing to the 10-yard line, only to be held for downs. Time was called with the ball in the Seniors' possession on their own 10-yard line.
