Tomorrow afternoon the first of the inter-dormitory bumping races for the Filley Cup will be held over the three-quarter mile course above the Boylston street bridge. The races will be held in divisions and will probably be rowed down-stream. Coach Wray, Captain Cutler and other members of the University squad will act as officials on the river bank and in the launches. On Wednesday the crews will again compete in bumping races, and on Thursday a final straight-away race from scratch over a mile and one-quarter course will be held in the Basin between those crews making the best showing in the two days of bumping races.
The Filley Cup, presented by B. A. G. Fuller '00 in the autumn of 1906 as a perpetual challenge cup to be competed for annually and to be held by the winner for one year, was won in 1906 and 1907 by Claverly, in 1908 by Mt. Auburn street. Last year the Thayer crew obtained the trophy by winning the straightaway race.
