Pole-Vault Competition Held

The first of a series of five handicap pole-vault competitions was held at the new jumping pits behind the Stadium on Tuesday afternoon. S. C. Lawrence 1L. and W. Cadwell 1L., each with a handicap of 1 foot, tied for first place at 11 ft., 6 in. B. M. Jones '12, (1 ft.), was third at 11 ft., A cup has been offered for the best score in the series made by any member of the University, and a second cup for the highest score made by a Freshman, first place to count 5 points; second place, 3 points; and third place, 1 point. If a Freshman wins a place in the University competition his score shall count for that cup as well as for the Freshman cup. Scores shall not count unless there are more than three competitors. As only three Freshmen reported on Tuesday, no score were taken for the Freshman cup.
