The second annual convention of the New England Federation of Harvard Clubs was held in Boston yesterday afternoon and evening under the auspices of the Harvard Club of Boston. At 1 o'clock in the afternoon the convention opened with an informal luncheon at the Parker House, to which the delegates and members of the Federation and the members of the Boston Harvard Club were invited.
After the luncheon the annual business meeting of the Federation was held at which President C. T. Billings '84, of Lowell, presided. After thanking the Harvard Club of Boston for its hospitality, he extended a greeting to the delegates from the other clubs. Since the last business meeting in Providence, the membership of the Federation has increased from eleven to eighteen clubs. He suggested that further steps be taken toward the provision of scholarships and also toward the establishment of a Harvard cup in Andover, Exeter, and perhaps other preparatory schools, to be awarded each year. The report of the secretary was read by F. W. Aldred '00 of Providence, and that of the treasurer by C. H. Fiske, Jr., '93 of Boston.
President Billings reported for the committee on new organizations and E. A. Harriman '88 read the report of Colonel S. E. Winslow '85 for the committee on the nomination of overseers. A. J. Garceau '91, for the committee on relations with the University, reported that the committee had conferred with the officers of the University, of the Alumni Association and the president of the Federation, and found no special work to undertake. The establishment of a permanent committee on relations with the University was advocated.
The following officers of the New England Federation of Harvard Clubs were elected: president, C. T. Billings '84 reelected; vice-president, N. Clifford '90; secretary, J. D. Phillips '97; treasurer, C. H. Fiske, Jr., '93.
