The tank at the Newell boathouse will be opened this afternoon for candidates for the University crew who wish to report for voluntary practice. Coaches Wray and Stephenson will be in the boathouse every afternoon except Saturday to supervise the work until the regular practice begins. Men from the Freshman crew squad, that are now doing voluntary work, will be advanced from the machines to the tank as soon as they show some marked proficiency. Candidates for the University and Freshman crews will be called out for regular practice directly after the mid-year examinations on February 14.
