The name of Dean Ames must henceforth be associated with that of his great predecessor Dean Langdell, as that of one who was primarily responsible for the expansion of our Law School. In this flourishing department he has his fitting monument. To its service he gave all the working years of his life. The methods devised by Dean Langdell for the teaching of law were transmitted to thousands of students by this, his faithful disciple. The legal profession has lost a most distinguished scholar; Harvard University has lost a most devoted servant.
