George Pierce Metcalf, of Providence, R. I., was yesterday elected captain of the Freshman crew. Metcalf prepared for College at St. Paul's School, Concord, N. H., where he rowed for two years on the Halcyon Club crew, and last year captained the school crew, on which he rowed No. 7. Last fall he rowed No. 7, on the Randolph dormitory crew and No. 3 on the Newell graded crew. Since the Freshman crews first went on the river this spring, Metcalf has rowed No. 7 in the first boat.
