At New Haven yesterday Yale was defeated in baseball by Amherst, 4 to 0. In the first inning Rose, who started the game in the box for Yale, gave two bases on balls and allowed three hits before he was replaced by Merritt. Amherst's fourth run came as the result of an error, two sacrifice hits and a single.
