Second Crew Leaves for Philadelphia

This evening the members of the second University crew will leave on the Federal express for Philadelphia, where they will stay at the Hotel Aldine until after their race on Saturday in the American Henley Regatta. The crew has been entered in the race for first eight-oared shells, in which it will row against the Malta Boat Club of Philadelphia. It is possible that the crew will also be entered in the race for second University crews.

Since March 31 the order of the second crew has remained the same, except for a change on May 4, when Severance went in at 5, Smith moving to 3, and Whitney to bow. The crew has developed into one of the best second crews that ever represented the University. The men are well together and the boat moves along well at a high stroke. Throughout the season the crew has done very well in races with the University crew, and has been able to win consistently from the Freshmen.

The following men will be taken to Philadelphia: R. Ellis '09, substitute; H. Forster '11, R. F. Hooper '11, M. A. King '10, S. O. Richardson '11, W. R. Severance '09, P. D. Smith '11, J. E. Thayer '10, J. Waite '11, R. Whitney '11, P. Withington '09.
