The CRIMSON deeply regrets the obligation imposed upon it of publishing today the definitive refusal of President Eliot to accept the post of Ambassador to the Court of St. James. While forced to concur with the President in his desire for retirement from responsible duties, we cannot help echoing the disappointment felt by his admirers in both countries. No one could have upheld better than he the honor of Harvard and of the American nation, and no one could have been found more worthy of representing their noblest aspirations and ideals.
