The Freshman baseball team will play the first game of its schedule with Somerville High School on the 1912 diamond on Soldiers Field this afternoon at 4 o'clock. This game will be a decided test of the team's ability, as Somerville High has one of the strongest school nines in the vicinity of Boston. A temporary change has been made in the regular Freshman line up on account of a slight injury to Kennedy, who has been playing first base regularly. Blackall, who has been playing in the outfield, will start the game in his place, and Reeves may also be tried out. Ernst and Babson will pitch.
Up to this point the showing of the team has been only fair. A large number of promising candidates reported for early practice, but the team as a whole has not shown much progress. There have been two practice games, in which a large number of candidates have been tried out. The Freshmen were defeated by Dorchester High School by a close score; they defeated the second University team, however, 3 to 2.
