8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports

Rowing Review for Past Week

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

With the exception of yesterday, crews from the University and Freshman squads have rowed down-stream to the basin every day during the past week. The University eight was greatly strengthened by the return of Lunt to 2 on Wednesday, the only change that has been made in the order this week.

The two long rows to the basin and back have given the men opportunity to work in unison, and their stroke has been long and powerful. Two other crews from the University squad have been out, the fourth boat having been disbanded to allow the men to try for their class crews. Their orders have remained unchanged, and the long rows down-stream have shown an improvement in blade work and timing. Coach Wray has supervised the work of all the crews from his single. The launch John Harvard has been put in commission and will be ready for use on Monday.

At present the crews are rowing in the following order:

University crew--Stroke, Sargent; 7, Waid; 6, R. Cutler; 5, L. Withington; 4, Bacon; 3, Faulkner; 2, Lunt; bow, E. Cutler; cox., Blagden.

Second crew--Stroke, Richardson; 7, Smith; 6, Hooper; 5, P. Withington; 4, Waite; 3, Whitney; 2, Forster; bow, Ellis; cox., King.

Third crew--Stroke, Shillite; 7, Marvin; 6, Faton; 5, Beane; 4, Hanfstaeugl; 3, Macleod; 2, Loring; bow, Jowett; cox., Fales.

The work of the Freshman crew has been ragged and crude, due to numerous changes in its order from day to day. Two crews were on the river Thursday and rowed in the following order:

Freshman crew--Stroke, Richardson; 7, Metcalf; 3, Higginson; 5, Leslie; 4, Smith; 3, Weston; 2, Parker; bow, Wiggins; cox., Voorhees.

Second Freshman--Stroke, Trumbull; 7, Anderson; 6, McCabe; 5, Hoar; 4, Amory; 3, Frothingham; 2, Chatfield; bow, Smart; cox., Faxon.
