YALE WON SWIMMING MEET

In the dual swimming meet with Yale held at the Brookline tank last night, Harvard was defeated by the score of 31 to 22. R. W. Cutler '11 established a new intercollegiate record for the 220-yard swim, beating the old record of 2 minutes, 48 seconds, by 9 seconds. Harvard won four first places to Yale's two; but Yale had the more completely developed team, winning all the second and all but two third places. Harvard won the water-polo game by the score of 5 to 2.

The University relay team lost to Yale in an exciting race. Cutler, who swam last for Harvard, although half a lap behind at the start, finished a very close second. In fancy diving, E. H. Jose '10 won an evenly matched competition. R. W. Cutler '11 came in first in the 50-yard dash and the 22-yard and 100-yard swim.

The final event of the evening was the water-polo game, which Harvard won, 5 to 2. The University team's chances were thought to be small on account of lack of practice. In the game, however, the men displayed excellent teamwork, and their superiority was evident throughout.

The Harvard 1912 relay team lost to the Yale freshmen in a separate competition.
