Progress of Class Crews Last Week

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

In spite of the unfavorable weather conditions of last week, all the class crews went out on the river for their regular practice except on Wednesday. The roughness of the water has made smooth rowing practically impossible, however, and consequently there has not been much advance in the work.

The Seniors have had considerable difficulty in making up an eight; and their work is still very ragged and rough, although the changes during the week have been for the better.

The Junior crew continues to show the best form. All the men in the boat have had considerable experience on class and graded crews, and they are rowing smoothly for so early in the season.

The Sophomores have good material, but the crew is not progressing satisfactorily. The work of the 1911 crew should improve, because the men recently cut from the University squad will strengthen the eight.

The Freshman crew improved slightly during the week. Although the individual men in the boat all show promise, the crew as a whole is still very lifeless. The second 1912 crew has advanced more rapidly during the past week, and several men in the boat show good promise of developing later. There were important changes in the make-up of these two boats. Faxon, of the second crew, replaced Voorhees as coxswain of the first crew on Saturday. Balch and Hoar replaced Parker and Frothingham at Nos. 2 and 3 respectively.

The orders of the crews during the past week were:

Senior crew--Stroke, Butler; 7, Richardson; 6, Williams; 5, Richards; 4, Turner; 3, Tabor; 2, Morrison; bow, Vaughan; cox., Edwards.

Junior crew--Stroke, Martin; 7, Hadden; 6, Hill; 5, Platt; 4, Frye; 3, Chapin; 2, Maxwell; bow, Morgan; cox., Atkins.

Sophomore crew--Stroke, Peabody; 7, Perkins; 6, Ellis; 5, Coe; 4, Beal; 3, Hobart; 2, Hopkins; bow, Burden; cox., Everett.

Freshman crew--Stroke, Newton; 7, Metcalf; 6, Strong; 5, Higginson; 4, Smith; 3, Weston; 2, Richardson; bow, Wiggins; cox., Faxon.

Second Freshman--Stroke, Trumbull; 7, Anderson; 6, Amory; 5, McCabe; 4, Leslie; 3, Hoar; 2, Balch; bow, Smart; cox., Voorhees.
