Freshmen Lost Basketball

The Freshman basketball team was defeated by the Brown freshmen last evening by the score of 30 to 27 in an exciting game which required an extra period to settle it. At the end of the second half, just as time was up, Von der Lief made a goal from the floor, which made the score 24 to 24. In the extra 5-minute period the Brown team scored three goals from the floor in quick succession, while the Freshmen were able to get only one goal from the floor and one from a foul.

The game was close from the start and the lead alternated frequently. During the first half there was little team-play by either side, but as the game progressed the play became faster and the shooting and passing of the Freshmen more accurate. The Brown men were inclined to resort to long shots.

Harvard scored first, but toward the close of the first half two goals from the floor by Dunn put Brown ahead, 10 to 8. After a score by Brown in the early part of the second half, two goals by Rouillard and Davidson tied the score. From this point on the play was very even.

The best playing for the Freshmen was done by Davidson and Boyd, and for Brown by Dunn and Hennesy. The Freshmen were considerably weakened by the loss of Captain Stebbins, who plays right guard.
