IMPORTANT HOCKEY MEETING

In Assembly Room of Union at 7.30.--Practice at Hammond's Saturday.

All candidates for the University and Freshman hockey teams are asked to attend a very important meeting this evening at 7.30 o'clock in the Assembly Room of the Union. Details concerning training and practice during the recess will be announced. Plans for the season's work will be outlined by Captain S. T. Hicks '10 and Coach A. Winsor '02 will speak about the coaching system. Coach Quinn of the track team, who will have charge of the training of the University hockey team this winter, will have important announcements to make concerning training during the holidays. It is absolutely essential that all men who intend to try for positions on either the University or Freshman teams should attend this meeting.

Squad at Hammond's Saturday.

The University hockey squad held its second practice on ice at Hammond's Pond, Chestnut Hill, on Saturday afternoon. About 30 men reported for the University team and all were given a chance to play. Coach A. Winsor '02, who from now on will have charge of the coaching of the University team, was present and paid special attention to the candidates for the three defence positions, all of which were left vacant by graduation. On account of the ineligibility of one of last year's forwards; it has also become necessary to fill the position of right centre.

After a short preliminary practice, the University forwards, with a provisional defence, played a practice game with the second team, in which the regular forwards scored five goals to their opponents' one.

The University forwards lined up as follows: l.e., Gardner; l.c., Hicks; r.c., Duncan; r.e., Hornblower, Clifford.

R. S. Townsend '07, captain of the 1906-07 University team, and T. S. Sampson '09 were present and coached the defence candidates.

Practice Game for Freshmen.

The Freshman squad of about 20 men had a long practice game in which all who reported were given a chance to play. Regular practice will begin today and all candidates are asked to watch the bulletin to be posted in the Rendezvous before 1 o'clock.
