8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports
The Harvard Aeronautical Society announces that the cinematograph lecture scheduled for last Monday evening in the Fogg Lecture Room will be given in Brattle Hall on December 10. Admission will be 50 cents to all except charter members of the society who will be admitted free. In order to accommodate any members of the University who wish to become charter members, the lists will be kept open until after this lecture.
In addition, the society has arranged for a series of lectures to be given this winter by prominent scientific men in the University. Professor I. N. Hollis h.'99 will speak on "Movements of Solids Through Liquids"; Professor A. L. Rotch h.'91 will deliver at least one lecture on "Physics of the Air," and Professor R. W. Willson '73 has consented to talk on aeronautical problems of navigation in connection with astronomy.
After December 10 three groups of men will be organized into experiment sections. Two of these will work with gliders, which will be obtained before the mid-year period; and the third will carry on experiments with gas engines, with a view to perfecting them for use in aeroplanes. All men intending to enter any of these sections will send their names to E. C. Brown '12, 27 Holyoke street before December 12.
Books and pamphlets on aeronautics and related subjects are now reserved in the Gore Hall Library until club rooms are obtained. The society expects to purchase a flying machine to be used for experimental and exhibition purposes.
