The Seniors defeated the Sophomores in the second game of the interclass football series yesterday by the score of 9 to 0. The team-work of the Seniors was better than in their last game and was superior to that of the Sophomores, who played their first game yesterday.
Outline of the Game.
The Seniors scored in the first seven minutes of play. After recovering the kick-off, which the Sophomores fumbled, they were held for downs. Another fumble by 1912 was recovered by the Seniors and Beard kicked a field goal from the 20-yard line. After an exchange of punts later, the Sophomores failed in an attempted forward pass and were penalized to their 20-yard line. Here their kick was blocked, and they punted again from the 10-yard line. From this point till the end of the half the ball did not approach either goal line.
In the second half, both teams tried forward passes and onside kicks with little success. After a period in which kicking predominated, the Seniors ran back a punt to their opponents' 15-yard line. From this point, by successive line plunges, in which the runner was well supported, the Seniors carried the ball to the Sophomores' 1-yard line. Here the 1912 team stiffened, but was unable to prevent a touchdown.
