Hockey Squad Played Soccer

The University hockey squad held its first practice of the season on Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon. The practice consisted of a long game of association football against the University association football team.

About 20 men played for the hockey squad while their opponents had only the regular team of 11 men. This practice for the hockey team is designed to get the men into good physical training so that when the ice freezes they can devote their entire attention to the game of hockey itself. Until the rinks are ready the squad will continue the association football practice three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. In addition the goals will have special indoor practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Freshman team will probably not start work until the squads can get on the ice.
