SPIRITED SIGNAL PRACTICE

On Soldiers Field Yesterday.--Every-body Back in Game but Hooper.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The secret practice which the football team held yesterday afternoon in the Stadium was one of the fastest and most encouraging of the entire season. The whole team played with more spirit, showed more life and dash than it has shown in any signal practice this year. There was no scrimmage, but both the first team and substitutes were given a long "dummy" scrimmage against the second team. Much attention was devoted to the handling of punts, to O'Flaherty's drop-kicking, and to the individual faults of each man.

Every man on the University squad, with the single exception of Hooper, was on the field in uniform. Corbett, McKay, G. G. Browne, and P. D. Smith were in the line-up, while Minot, Rogers and West are expected to play at any time. In the "dummy" scrimmage the entire first squad was given an opportunity to play, the regulars being substituted after some twenty minutes of hard, fast drill. The second team showed up strongly, using a number of Dartmouth plays.

The teams lined up as follows: FIRST TEAM.  SECOND TEAM. G. G. Browne, Houston, l.e.  r.e., Whitney McKay, Bush, l.t.  r.t., Coburn L. Withington, W. K. Blodgett, l.g.  r.g., Knapp P. Withington, c.  c., Barber Fisher, Stow, r.g.  l.g., Blake Fish, Forster, r.t.  l.t., Davis L. D. Smith, r.e.  l.e., Blanchard O'Flaherty, Wigglesworth, q.b.  q.b., Merrill Corbett, Frothingham, l.h.b.  r.h.b., Tryon Leslie, P. D. Smith, r.h.b.  l.h.b., R. M. Page Long, Morrison, f.b.  f.b., E. S. Blodgett
