Listless 1913 Football Practice

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The preliminary practice of the Freshman football squad yesterday consisted of kicking and catching punts for the backs, and breaking through for the line-men, while others were instructed by Coach Waterbury in falling on the ball. Signal practice for the first two teams lasted about half an hour, after which there was a 30-minute scrimmage in which no score was made. The first team played listlessly throughout and was unable to gain consistently.

The second team kicked off to the first. The ball was carried back and forth near the centre of the field, frequent fumbles marring the play. The centre trio of the second team was the weakest spot, and the only good gains made by the first team were directed against that part of the line. The good work of the second team backs on end runs fully made up for this weakness, so that neither goal was seriously threatened.

The line-ups: FIRST TEAM.  SECOND TEAM.
