Scrimmage for Substitutes Yesterday.

The secret practice for the University football squad yesterday afternoon was light, though the first team substitutes had a fifteen-minute scrimmage with the second team. As this was the final practice for the first team before the West Point game tomorrow, the first squad was kept on the field only a few minutes. There was a short signal drill, the men were given a little instruction in their individual faults, and, after running back a number of kick-offs, the first team was sent in. The first team line-up, the one which will probably start the game tomorrow, was as follows: l.e., Houston; l.t., McKay; l.g., L. Withington; c., P. Withington; r.g., Fisher; r.t., Fish; r.e., L. D. Smith; q.b., O'Flaherty; l.h.b., P. D. Smith; r.h.b., Leslie; f.b., Morrison.

After the first team had been sent in, the substitutes lined up against the second team, the latter taking the ball in mid-field. A fumbled punt, several gains outside tackle, and a forward pass gave the second the ball near the substitutes' goal. In three line plays the ball was rushed over the line, Tryon making the only score of the afternoon. For the rest of the scrimmage the substitutes played with only ten men, Rogers having been taken out. With this handicap, and by means of very ragged playing, the substitutes twice forced the ball to the second's goal-line, only to lose it there.

The teams lined up as follows: FIRST SUBSTITUTES.  SECOND TEAM. Galatti, l.e.  r.e., Crowley Hooper, l.t.  r.t., Goddard, Pfaelzer Stow, l.g.  r.g., O'Hare Perkins, c.  c., Knapp W. K. Blodgett, r.g.  l.g., E. W. Fisher Forster, r.t.  l.t., Coburn, Brock Rogers, r.e.  l.e., Clifford Wigglesworth, q.b.  q.b., Merrill Pierce, l.h.b.  r.h.b., Tryon Huntington, r.h.b.  l.h.b., Campbell Morrison, f.b.  f.b., McCabe
