In seeking to prevent the wholesale cutting of lectures on the days of important athletic contests the Student Council is aiming at an evil which has been extremely serious in past years. Until the organization of the Council it was a practice that went unchecked by any restraint except that of the College office, and which brought confusion to Saturday lectures and disrepute on scholastic and athletic affairs alike.
We believe that cutting is no more necessary on Saturdays than on any other day of the week, and that engagements can be so arranged as to avoid the necessity of it. It is to the interest of the football team and of the student body in general that the request of the Student Council be complied with today.
