The two-mile race, held on Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon for all distance men, was won by E. L. Viets '11. P. R. Withington '12 was second, and W. H. Lacey '12, third. The race was well contested. About thirty started, but it soon became a struggle between six men. Viets set the pace for the first five laps. Lacey then came to the front only to be passed by Withington on the seventh, who in turn was passed by Viets at the finish.
H. P. Lawless '13 finished first in the mile race for distance men from the Freshman class. E. D. Smith '13 and S. Nichols '13 were second and third respectively. Lawless took the lead on the first lap and held it throughout the race.
