At the last meeting of the executive committee of the Alumni Association in Boston Charles William Eliot '53 was elected president of the Harvard Alumni Association. President Eliot is the thirty-third president of the association. John Quincy Adams 1787 was the first president and was succeeded by Edward Everett 1811. The principal duty of the president of the Alumni Association is to preside at Memorial Hall on Commencement Afternoon, when he will introduce as speakers the President of the University and the Governor of Massachusetts.
