1911 BASEBALL WITH YALE

Freshmen Play First Game of Series at New Haven Today.--Comparison.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Freshman baseball team will play its first game with the Yale freshman this afternoon at 1.30 o'clock, on the Yale field, New Haven.

The Freshmen have had a fairly successful season, winning four and tying one of the seven games they have played. The fielding of the team is good, and although they have been week at the bat, they have shown marked improvement during the last week, Mckay has been pitching excellent ball the whole season, allowing but few hits, usually well scattered.

The work of the Yale freshmen has been particularly good this year, the fielding and batting being good. They have no very good pitchers. In nearly every game two pitchers have been used, and their victories have been mostly due to excellent fielding and hard hitting.

The only real chance for comparison between the teams was afforded by the contests with Andover, Yale winning, 1-0, and Harvard breaking even. 2-2. Both game were hard-fought.

As a whole, the Yale freshmen have played a steady consistent game, and are perhaps a little superior in fielding, but with McKay in the box, Harvard will have a very capable pitcher, and should win a close game.

The batting orders will be as follows: HARVARD 1911.  YALE 1911. Rogers, c. f.  c., Badger Taylor, S.S.  2b., McIntyre McLaughlin, l.f.  S.S., Reilly Minot, r.f.  c.f., Corey Hann, 1b.  1b., Lilley J. Sweetser, c.  l.f., Martin A. Sweetser, 2b.  3b., Stillwell Twitchell, 3b.  r.f., Daly McKay, p.  p., Carr, Hartwell
