Whitney of Wellesley High School, won the interscholastic tennis championship yesterday on Jarvis Field by defeating McVeigh of Exeter, 6-0, 6-0, 6-4. As winner of the tournament, Whitney is eligible to play in the national interscholastic tournament at Newport in August.
In the second match of the semi-finals which was also played yesterday, Whitney defeated Woods of Newton High School, 6-0, 6-4. Exeter was awarded the championship shield for winning the greatest number of matches. The score was: Exeter, 6; Newton High School 5; Boston Latin School, 1; Melrose High School, 1.
