The petition is fairly launched; it has carried the College by storm. One-third of all the undergraduates have already signed and the number is growing steadily.
We need more names, however; not one-third or one-half, but the names of all the undergraduates. This is an undergraduate movement, an effort to set on foot an effective remedy for athletic distraction. If it fails, the Faculty's remedy will be the result. If it succeeds, the undergraduates themselves will be responsible for the maintenance of their sport.
The petition is still at the CRIMSON office. Go there today and sign without fail. Only when the number of names has reached a large majority may we fairly say that Harvard College has offered the Faculty a real and effective solution.
