To the Editors of the CRIMSON:

As the present system of awarding the degree with distinction came into effect only last year, members of the class of 1908 were unable to plan their work, in their earlier College years, with a view to obtaining it. That comparatively few are now enrolled as candidates for it is therefore natural.

It occurs to me, however, that many Seniors may be more nearly eligible for it than they suppose, either in the subject of which I have official charge--History and Literature--or more highly specialized ones. May I accordingly express my hope that Seniors who would still like to consider the degree with distinction will not hesitate to call on me, this week or next, during my office hours--Friday, from 9.30 to 12.30, and Saturday, from 11 to 1. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to talk over the situation with them, and to aid them in every possible way. BARRETT WENDELL.
