SECONDARY CREW RACES

To be Rowed in Basin at 3.--Second University Crew to be Picked.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

This afternoon at 3 o'clock the second, third, and fourth crews from the University squad will hold a race on the Charles River, starting at the Longwood Bridge and ending in the basin opposite the Union Boat Club, a distance of one and seven-eighths miles. All three crews have been on the river since February 21, and consequently are unusually well developed for so early in the season. The race will be for the purpose of trying out the men, and only one of the three crews will be retained. This will leave the University squad actually with only sixteen men. The class crews, however, which will be further repleted by those not retained on the squad, will be watched carefully, and men may later be taken from them and assigned again to the University squad. Of the three crews, the second is probably the most powerful; the third and fourth being fairly evenly matched.

Review of University Rowing.

During the past week no radical changes have been made in any of the crews. The first boat has been on the river every day, despite the bad weather, and has usually rowed to the basin and back, accompanied by Coach Wray in the John Harvard. Yesterday, owing to the absence of Faulkner, Coach Wray went in at bow. Morgan is still stroking, and Waid is at five.

The orders of the four crews as they have rowed during the week, and of the second, third and fourth crews in the race today are as follows:

Crew A--Stroke, Morgan; 7, Richardson; 6, E. Bacon; 5, Waid; 4, Lunt; 3, Severance; 2, Fish; bow, Faulkner; cox., Blagden.

Crew B--Stroke, Reece; 7, Tilton; 6, Lovering; 5, Wyman; 4, Hyde; 3, Rackemann; 2, Sargent; bow, E. Cutler; cox., King.

Crew C--Stroke, J. Cutler; 7, Marvin; 6, G. Bacon; 5, Macleod; 4, Vogel; 3, Ball; 2, Fahnestock; bow, Ellis; cox., Adams.

Crew D--Stroke, Deming; 7, Lowell; 6, Beaman; 5, Hanfstaengl; 4, Hill; 3, Hadden; 2, Maxwell; bow, Forster; cox., Simon.
