To the Editors of the CRIMSON:

The suggestion has been made and, in private discussion very favorably received, that a club be formed at Harvard for that large and unorganized body of men who enjoy walking through the numerous and interesting coast and rural resorts in the vicinity. Such an organization ought not to be, in the opinion of those interested, specifically a walking club. The informality and intimacy which are the first essentials of all enjoyable walking would disappear if walking parties were to comprise, not two or three close friends, but two or three score, perhaps wholly unacquainted persons.

But a club for walkers may do in its own field in a similar manner and for a larger clientele what the very analogous yacht and Binnacle clubs and the Anglers' club now do, respectively, in their fields. It should, by disseminating information in regard to attractive walks, short cuts, comfortable and inexpensive inns, etc., serve as a focus for all the walking interests of the University.

It is therefore planned early next week to hold a meeting of all members of the University interested in walking for the purpose of organization. Further details of the meeting will be announced later. W. H. POLLAK '07.
