THE SECOND SENIOR ELECTIONS.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Today the Seniors must complete their choice of men for the final positions of honor and responsibility in the class. In past years the vote cast for the committees has not compared favorably with the preceding election, which itself, we are forced to admit, seldom attracts as large a vote as the class, collectively speaking, would like to see. In some respects the final election is fully as important as the first, for upon its result the success of Class Day and of the future organization of the class largely depends. The situation this year calls for even a more interested vote than formerly, for not only must a committee be chosen to co-operate with the Treasurer and lead the class organization after graduation, as well as committees to assume the enormous task of managing a successful Class Day, but a permanent Secretary must be elected who in every way must have shown his fitness to assume the wide duties of that office.

With just what motives a man should make his selection in these elections is still a disputed point. Mere friendship for the candidate should not be enough in itself. The CRIMSON believes that the committees should be a happy mixture of capable and hard-working men with men whose achievements along other lines are worthy of recognition. It is impossible to ignore the athlete but it is impractical to crowd out a man who will be serviceable to the class merely because he has not contributed to victories on the gridiron or on the river. A fusion of the two elements is generally possible. The larger the vote the more certain it will be that the fusion has been made to the satisfaction of the class as a whole.
