Complete Catalogue of Harvard Men

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Mr. E. H. Wells '97, general secretary of the Alumni Association, assisted by several clerks, is compiling a complete list of names, addresses, and occupations of all living Harvard men. The list will include all men, except present undergraduates, who were ever in the University long enough to have their names in the first edition of the annual Catalogue. The class, department of study, degree, and names of parents--for the benefit of genealogists--will also be given.

Most of the names (between 18,000 and 20,000) have been secured, and work will soon begin to collect information regarding addresses and occupations. The names will probably be arranged in three orders -- alphabetically, geographically and according to occupation. The delays caused by hunting stragglers and other unavoidable circumstances have put off the date of publication, but at present it appears that the first edition will be ready for the printers by January 1. A second edition with corrections will follow soon after. A gift, however, will be necessary before the compilers will be able to publish the catalogue.

To expedite matters, Harvard men are requested to send their names, year of entering and leaving the University, addresses, present occupations, and the names of their parents, to the office of the Harvard Alumni Association, 50 State street, Boston.
