No scrimmage was held yesterday in the football practice on Soldiers Field. The men, however, were given a short drill in getting started quickly, and were lined up by L. H. Leary '03 and coached in getting away as soon as the ball was snapped. Then followed more limbering up work, which consisted of picking up the ball on the run, and passing. Four separate elevens were formed, as was done Wednesday, and these were given forty minutes' practice in signals and forward passes. The old tandem formation, used with such success in past years was also tried.

Starr's team--l.e., Peirce; l.t., Blanchard; l.g., Fisher c., Grant; r.g., Hadden; r.t., Hoar; l.e., Bird; q.h., Starr; l.h.b., Gilder; r.h.b., Lockwood, Gilbert; f.b., Morse, Mason.
Cate's team--l.e., Fall; l.t., Coburn; l.g., F. H. Parker; c., Barney; r.g., Fiske; r.t., Jones; r.e., Ball; q.b., Cate; l.h.b., Enos; r.h.b., Rogers; f.b., Gray.
At the conclusion of practice, Newhall, Mason, Fish, Waterbury, Lockwood, Rand, Apollonio, Gilder and Wendell were coached in punting by Mr. Crane.
There will be a short scrimmage tomorrow in order to see how the team works against a light defense. The training table for the squad will begin in Memorial Hall on Monday.
