INTERESTING FOOTBALL WORK

Breaking Through Line on Punts was Feature of Yesterday's Practice.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The practice of the University football squad yesterday was the most interesting that has been held, although the excitement of a scrimmage was lacking. The men seemed to work with more snap and vigor, due perhaps to the cooler weather.

Before coming out on the field, the squad was given a twenty-minute talk by Head Coach Crane on the workings of several new plays. The work began with signal practice by the four teams into which the squad was divided. The regular forward passes and straight plays were tried; and the punting was done by Wendell, Graydon, Rand and Lockwood. The men were then lined up against one another and were given practice in breaking through the line on punts. They were told not to try to block the kicks, but merely to break through the line. As the concluding work of the afternoon the squad was lined up near one goal line and sent sprinting down the field at the snap of the ball. They then jogged two laps around the field.

Ten new candidates reported as follows:

Guards--A. Brock '08, S. Hoar '09.

Tackle--A. C. Fiske '10.

Ends--G. G. Ball '08, F. S. Blanchard '10.

Halfbacks--J. L. Binda '10, R. Bradley '09, D. C. Brennan '08, S. W. Cooper '09, H. K. Craft '08.
