THE SUMMER'S IMPROVEMENTS

Work on Langdell Hall and Addition to Gore Hall.--Minor Changes.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

During the summer a great many improvements have been made in the grounds and buildings of the University.

All the furniture for the new Law School has been obtained, and the work on the inside fittings is now being pushed ahead rapidly. It is expected, that the building will be ready for use by November 1. The grading around the building is near completion, and a macadamized road has been built along the front. All the walks from the near-by buildings have been completed.

The Addition to Gore Hall Finished.

The addition to Gore Hall is completed and the necessary furniture obtained. This addition enlarges the delivery room, provides offices for the members of the librarian's staff on the first floor, and increases the space of the reading room on the second floor.

Other Improvements.

At the Bussey Institute a large stable for antitoxine purposes has been built. All the modern equipments have been used to make this building a model in every way.

Several changes have been made in Sever Hall. Room 35 has been divided into two lecture halls by a thick wood and plaster wall. The stairways where they were badly worn have been repaired.

Much attention has been given to repairing Holyoke House and College House. The north end of the latter has been placed at the disposal of the graduate school for its students. All undergraduates, however, who had rooms there last year and wished to re-engage them for this year were allowed to do so. In both these dormitories the rooms and halls have been painted white and new gas fixtures have been put in.

In the Medical School many additions and improvements have been made where the original accommodations have proved insufficient.
