Freshmen Defeated St. George, 4 to 0

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

On Wednesday afternoon at Newport, the Freshman nine defeated St. George's School by a score of 4 to 0, in an uninteresting game.

The high wind aided the pitchers, who played the best for their respective teams. It was owing to the excellent pitching of Lanigan, who struck out 15 men, allowed only two hits, and passed only 3 men to first base on balls, that the Freshmen won. For their batting is still as weak as it has been throughout the season. The men have not proven themselves able to hit the ball, but have the habit of letting their pitcher win or lose the game for them.

The star play of the game was made by Foster at third base, when in the eighth inning he stopped a line drive and retired the St. George's man at first.

The summary:

Bases on balls--off Lanigan 3, off Wheeler 1. Struck out--by Lanigan 15, by Wheeler 7. Double play--Lanigan to Hall. Wild pitch--by Wheeler. Passed balls--by Wall 2. Hit by pitched ball--by Lanigan 1. Time--1h., 50m. HARVARD 1910.   a.b.  r.  b.h.  p.o.  a.  e.
